MUROMACHI SILK

a reconstruction of a 14th Japanese century silk

it was a order from a textile group whom wants to remake a traditional cloth

the muromachi silk was in that period developed and it is not just a thread no way

it is a multiple component thread wich needs a lot of time to make by hand

it is even stunnign that they uesed all those differend techniques to obtain that effect

the final efect of the thread gives a shimmering blinky structure in woven fabric

it is as if it is runnign water from a waterfall

that white foming bubble forming effect and still the glossyness of silk in it

it is stunning as you see when they conceived this

so we worked at it for several months to be able to see how to make work on modern daytime machinery

the thread is not so uttermost difficult to make by hand but more painstakenly slow

but i need to say that we were stunned to see that to be able to translate it towards textile machine

it would not have been possible to make that thread 10years ago

the machines to make it in bulk did not exist

and yes it would be possible to make the differend omponents

and to assemble them afterwards but not in 1 single go

no that is quite recently

so this is an other stunning reconstruction of an old textile wonder

done in a japanese eri silk for that special extra feel
