this is a long to medium long silk fiber which allows you to create more eccentric spins

after all, the longer the fibers, the more special constructions are possible

you can't do much with short junk that you can usually find elsewhere

it is not completely degummed, there is still 5 to 7% sericin on it

we hardly ever do a complete degumming of the silk because you also lose a part

of the good properties of the silk if you do a complete degumming

this is the reason why on many industrially woven scarves, after everything is finished, a small amount of that sericin is put back

in the past they mainly did this for profit

because silk was simply incredibly expensive and the heavier they could make that silk the better for them of course

but now this is done for purely practical reasons

the silk glue also protects your fiber against UV light and so at the end of the ride you have a more sustainable textile

because the silk fibers are so thin you can also very easily entwine them in wool felting

and therefore undergo a kind of bonding process
